The Battle for Baja is On

January 23, 2018 Leave a comment

Join us Friday Feb 9th for the 7th annual Beach Battle of the Bands at the New Parish in Oakland.  This is a not to be missed evening of music featuring three bands fronted by Beach dads slugging it out for the title of King of Baja rock and roll.

Friday, Feb 9. Doors open at 7pm.. Tickets: bit.ly/BeachBattle7

This year the musical lineup features:

  • The return of Kirk Markopolis cranking out tightly crafted, high-energy originals with Pillars of Hercules
  • Aaron Fisher and Brian Weiss bring funk, rock and soul with the East Bay Groove Corps
  • Current King Tod Puckett defends the title with the plugged-in, rocking mix of funk and countrified rock with the Puckett Family Project

The venue is the New Parish https://www.facebook.com/NewParish/ , one of the absolute best clubs in the burgeoning Oakland music scene.  Around the corner from the Fox Theater, it has two floors, balcony, couches, a patio area, two bars and great dance floor.

This is hands down one of the best evenings of the year. Low key. High energy. Great music in an awesome venue packed with your friends and neighbors, all in support of Beach Elementary.  Makes one realize how much amazing musical talent we have in the community, and a nice way to hang out with some really fun folks!

12th Annual Pancake Breakfast!

September 11, 2017 Leave a comment

Sunday, Sep 17. 9am – 12 noon.

Don’t miss it!  Come out and celebrate the start of the school year, listen to some bluegrass music and catch up with old friends and new. If you’re training for the Fallfest 5K, it’s the perfect breakfast after your early Sunday training run. Enjoy a plate of made-from-scratch buttermilk, blueberry, chocolate chip, or oatmeal pancakes, plus sausage, bacon, fresh fruit and Peet’s coffee, all prepared by the Beach Dads Club.

We will have Beach gear available, and the return of the PancakeBot courtesy of the Piedmont Makers, where you can 3d print your favorite historical figure in edible pancake form.

The Beach Dads Club gratefully thanks our many community supporters: Pancake ingredients are generously donated by Mulberry’s Market, bacon & sausage from the Piedmont Grocery, fresh fruit and orange juice from Montclair’s Village Market, coffee from Peet’s on Piedmont Avenue, and of course the Piedmont Post.

Tickets can be purchased at the event, $10 for adults and $5 for kids and seniors, or in advance for the line adverse, on Eventbrite at  http://bit.ly/BeachPancakes

Breakfast is followed by the Chalk Art Fair sponsored by PAINTS, where kids and adults can purchase chalk and a square on the play yard to decorate and enjoy. The event often draws PIXAR and other local artists as well as the kid’s drawings. Funds from the Chalk Art festival support art programs in the Piedmont schools.
