Battle of the Bands IV – This Friday!

February 22, 2015 Leave a comment

BoTB IV

Padres,

The Fourth Annual Beach Battle of the Bands is this Friday at the New Parish in Oakland.

Seriously one of the best nights out of the year. Low key. High energy. Great music, makes you realize how much amazing musical talent we have in the Beach community. Nice way to hang out with some really fun folks. Raises money for the Beach. Doesn’t get much better.

This year we have a great range of music. Aaron Fisher will open playing a stripped down, energetic acoustic set featuring songs from Fleet Foxes, Bob Dylan, Dan Bern, and The Tallest Man on Earth.

Then the Battle begins…The Puckett Family Project, featuring singer/songwriter Tod Puckett, will turn it up this year with a plugged-in, rocking mix of funk and countrified rock originals to get your boogie started. Next, Kirk Markopoulos and Spacehawk, will play a set of original, eclectic pop/rock music tinged with everything from 60’s rock to 80’s pop, and ending with Tammy’s Camaro, featuring reigning king, Brian Weiss – a 9 piece band, playing pretty much anything they think is fun and danceable from the 70’s up through today.

So, confirm the babysitter. Tickets are $20, and are available at Eventbrite. (In fact, while you’re at it, why don’t you invite some friends, and get a couple of tickets now!).

See you Friday.

Annual Tri-School Softball Tournament — June 14, 2014

June 17, 2014 Leave a comment

On a beautiful Saturday after the last week of school, about 50 fathers from Beach, Havens, and Wildwood continued the traditional Tri-School Softball Tournament, playing 3 games at Coaches Field.

With over 100 in attendance including kids and families in the stands and on the grass cheering on their dads and their schools, local San Francisco Opera singer, Amy McKenzie, sang the national anthem for all to enjoy this favorite fundraising event.

The first game was won by Havens playing the Wildwood team and holding off a spirited comeback (7-4). The second game was Beach blanking out Wildwood (30-0). The third game was Beach beating Havens (10-3) to retain their Tri-School softball championship status!

A home-run derby saw Wildwood alumnus, Luke Heller (4), edging out Beach’s Dan Ferreira (3) and Jonathan Davis (2) and Haven’s Jeff Dorman (1).

Over $1000 was raised for the Associated Parents Club of Piedmont supporting CHIME (Citizens Highly Interested in Music Education).

Great job to all the Beach Padres who participated in the game and supported the event! (As well as all the dads from Havens and Wildwood!)
